When I first put on a security uniform in 1988, I didn’t see it as just a job.  I felt it was a responsibility. I was young, eager, and determined to prove that I could stand watch, protect others, and be the calm presence people could depend on. What I didn’t know back then was that this first step would turn into a lifelong passion.

The Beginning of a Calling

In those early years, the work was simple but meaningful. My post was my world. I learned quickly that security isn’t about standing still; it’s about awareness, presence, and respect. Residents, visitors, and even strangers looked to me for assurance. Every shift mattered, because every shift meant keeping someone safe.

Lessons Along the Way

As the years passed, I grew with the industry. New technology came in such as cameras, radios, and later advanced systems  but the heart of the work stayed the same. I discovered that the true power of a security officer is not just in their eyes or their voice, but in their consistency. Showing up on time. Staying alert. Treating people with dignity.

Security taught me patience. It taught me discipline. And it taught me that being professional means doing the right thing even when no one is watching.

Stepping Into a New Role

By 2025, nearly four decades later, my path brought me into bodyguard work. That transition wasn’t by accident.  It was the natural result of years of standing watch, learning people, and refining my instincts.

Being a bodyguard isn’t about looking tough. It’s about judgment, timing, and responsibility. It’s knowing when to step forward and when to fade into the background. Above all, it’s about protecting someone else’s world as if it were your own.

What I Carry With Me

From 1988 to 2025, I’ve seen a lot change  but my passion hasn’t. Every post, every patrol, every long night on duty built me into who I am today. The uniform may change, the tools may advance, but the mission stays the same: protect, serve, and earn trust.

To anyone just starting out in security: never underestimate the value of what you do. You are the first line of defense, the steady presence in the background, the one people count on without even realizing it. If you commit to the work, stay disciplined, and carry yourself with pride, this career can take you further than you ever imagined.  I’m living proof of that.

Closing Thoughts

From my first post in 1988 to standing as a bodyguard in 2025, I’ve never lost the fire that started it all. Security isn’t just a job. For me, it’s a calling, a purpose, and a lifelong journey. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
